Persona Development

Enquiry:
1. Finding the users
    a) Who are the users?
         - YouTube users
    b) How many are they?
         - As of February 2011, YouTube has 490 million unique users worldwide per month
           (source: http://mashable.com/2011/02/19/youtube-facts/)
    c) What do they do with the system?
         - Discover, watch and share originally-created videos

2. Building a Hypothesis
    a) What are the differences between the users
         - Personality traits and the way they discover videos on YouTube

3. Verifications
    a) User personas
         - Determine users' like/dislike, needs and value through Myers Briggs theory
    b) User situation
         - Browse video for leisure
    c) User senario
         - User have no idea or couldn't decide what they want to watch

4. Finding patterns
    a) Does the initial labeling hold?
         - Yes, Myers Briggs theory can be used to classified YouTube users into 16 groups
    b) Are they other groups to consider
         - No, the classification has include nearly all elements or aspects needed
    c) Are all equally important?
         - All 16 groups are equally important to form a comprehensive classification of personality types

5. Constructing Personas
    a) Body (name, age, picture)
         - Anonymous (for now)
    b) Psyche (extrovert/ introvert)
         - Both
    c) Background (occupation)
         - Every occupation, provided that they know and visit YouTube website
    d) Emotions and attitude towards technology
         - Positive
    e) Personality traits

6. Defining Situations
    a) What is the need of this persona?
         - Discover and watch video for when he/she has free time
    b) What is the situation
         - Has no idea what video he/she want to watch on YouTube
         - Couldn't decide what video to watch
         - Bored with exiting browsing features (browse channel, browse genre, browse trending, etc)

7. Validation and Buy-In
    a) Do you know someone like this?
        - I am one of them Haha!

8. Dissemination of Knowledge
    a) How can we share the personas with the organization?
       - Implement the tool on YouTube website as an Add-On/ New/ Advanced feature

9. Creating Scenarios
    a) In a given situation, with a given goal, what happens when the persona uses the technology
        - Persona might be amazed by how well the recommended video suit his/her own interest

10. On-going Development
      a) Does new information alter the personas?
          - New information (more videos being analysed and recommend for personas)
          - would increase the satisfaction level of the personas and enhance the user experience
